This week we have a couple of reports on this event. The first is from Charlotte Jenkins:DBSC dominates at The Coasts!45 Lasers across all three classes competed at the NSW/ACT Coast Championships last weekend at Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club.  A strong contingent of 15 sailors from DBSC competed at the regatta.Day One conditions: 20 – 25kt southerly.  3 races completed in all fleets.Day Two conditions: AP was up for nearly three hours with no wind, then a nice 15kt north-easterly came in. ILCA 4’s complete three races, but the ILCA 6 & 7’s managed just two races.There was tight racing in the 4’s with DBSC members Raphael McLachlan taking first and Charlotte Jenkins taking second. In the ILCA 6, Sylvie Stannage was first, and Healy Ryan was second. Next Saturday, 19 October is our annual competency training, starting at 9:00am. Race Report – PRO Jim Dounis The Saturday racing was once again Sprints due to the Coast Championships regatta. Twelve athletes participated in the Sprints in the supercharged gusty 18 to 25++ knots southerly buster winds. The course was set in Double Bay and we had six races averaging twelve minutes each. All boats started together. Surprisingly in this endurance test, everyone finished all of the races. The ILCA7 results were dominated by Campbell Patten with Luke Parker heard to say, “I’m sick of seeing the stern of your boat, Campell”. Luke also tried to protest against Campbell with Rule 10.1 Age before Beauty  —  Luke was 2nd place 5 times.

Each Wednesday and Thursday starting Today we will have Twilights at DBSC:Wednesday Twilight Sailing 5pm Splash – 7:30pmThe format for Wednesdays is that anyone can post an intention to sail in the WhatsApp “DBSC twilights” group chat, to arrange “ad hoc” member sailing – between existing Harbour marks, often with a “rabbit start”. (there is no rescue boat for this activity) coordinate amongst yourselves.Thursday Twilight Racing 5pm Splash, Racing between 5:30-7:30pmThere will be a Coach and a Volunteer on a Support RIB to run Sprint races with a set of 3 marks, – two laps of a windward-leeward course and gate finish downwind. A large contingent of DBSC youth sailors recently participated in the NSW Youth Sail coaching clinic and regatta, held at Teralba Sailing Club on 2nd – 7th October. Sprint RacingPRO David Airey reports:Saturday was warm and pleasant on the Harbour, but the wind remained in the winter pattern, light and gusty from the West. Despite the forecast for light winds, about 30 sailors went out for the holiday weekend sprints, with notably the Standard rigs having the most starters. We got 5 races away with close fought contests in the Standard fleet who were very enthusiastic at the starts. The gusty conditions provided challenging conditions and particularly near the windward mark after it was moved close to Clark Island. Spring Point Score Races 3 & 4Race 3 and 4 of the Spring Point score showed the Harbour in a somber, reflective mood, where both the silver afternoon and a lovely 8 gusting to 14 ESE converged right onto Rose Bay, on an even more somber AFL Grand Final Saturday.The course almost set itself, with the team of the day David Murphy PRO and Yves Stening as Co-PRO, assisted by John Chesterman and Van Allen in the Paul Adam, competing with a seaplane for ideal mark placement.
