The AGP is a highlight of the club’s social calendar, and it is on this Friday night!Guests are invited from 6:30pm with the AGM commencing at 7:00pm.Dinner and drinks will be at 8.00pm with a live band and dancing at 9.30pm!Please note, COVID is rife in the community and functions continue to provide a risk of infection. Race report 15 May 2022
Our PRO on the day, Andrew Cox, reports:On Sunday, we had another excellent turnout of 30 boats for races 4, 5, and 6 in our combined Winter Championship and Winter Point Score series. It was a beautiful warm day for this time of year, which made it easier than usual to get out of bed. But, this also meant a less reliable westerly breeze than normal.Our on-water race management team of Andrew Cox, Mark Lewkovitz, Diana Chen, Andrea Kraus, and Tim Heath had their work cut out for them. After carefully laying the westerly course before the briefing, they discovered upon returning to the water that the breeze had shifted left 90 degrees. After waiting what seemed an appropriate length of time, they hurried to reset the course in time for the start, only to find, as the first boats arrived for the start, that the wind had flipped back

Double Bay Sailing Club is managed and run entirely by volunteers. As the saying goes, “many hands make light work. There is always work to be done in the upkeep of our shed and the ongoing running of dinghy racing.This week we’d like to thank our new member Chris Berg, who swept the clubhouse on Sunday morning without being asked.Thank you also to Tim Heath. Tim was unable to sail on Sunday as he was “on call”, yet towed boats out and back on the day while waiting to be called.The club is full of people making wonderful contributions around the place, and sometimes behind the scenes. Let us know who deserves a mention!

Race report 29 May 2022
Our PRO on the day, Christine Patton, reports:After a series of wet Sunday mornings in this Winter Championship Sunday dawned dry and relatively warm with a gentle Westerly (with a touch of South) breeze already blowing. All pretty much predicted by Richard George in last week’s report. Three clean races got off without recall or restart in a steady 14 knot oscillating wind gusting to 18 knots. Firstly, hats off to the newer and/or rusty sailors who joined the fleet today. The day started as a perfect day for such sailors but by the end of the day we saw several white laser bottoms around the bay, but everyone persisted, including a very wet David Evenden determined to finish the last race. Thanks to Richard Au and Owen Kenny in the RIB keeping the course square and the sailors safe. In the Standard rigs Alex Bijkerk clinched the day with

On Friday the club held our annual general party.Proceedings began with the Annual General Meeting, the last under Commodore Cox! Andrew has served on the club’s committee for the past ten years – five as treasurer and five as commodore.In his farewell speech, he reflected upon the successes and strategy for the club over the past five years, which included on the key elements that drive our success.
