Sail Port Stephens: 24-25 April
The popular Sail Port Stephens now includes an off-the-beach regatta, hosted by Bay Sailing Centre at Soldiers Point on 24th & 25th April. There will be junior and open divisions, with all classes invited to attend. Details including NoR can be found [HERE]. Only 2.5hrs from Sydney, it’s a beautiful place to sail and spend a weekend with family/friends. Book your accommodation soon to avoid disappointment. DBSC Ski Weekend: 20-22 August
If you love snow sports as much as sailing, the DBSC Social Club are seeking expressions of interest from those who would like to hit the slopes together over the weekend of 20-22 August. Plan is to stay in Thredbo Village 19/20/21 August (3 nights), ski/snowboard, eat/drink, and be merry. Accommodation is already running low, so please email Andrew ASAP if you’re interested.
History Corner
From Double Bay Sailing Club’s inception, the VJ Class dominated until the mid 1960s. In the 1962/63 season, DBSC hosted the Australian VJ Championships. However, in 1966 OK Dinghies were introduced as the senior sailing class with about 10 boats. DBSC hosted an OK regatta in November 1966 where there were 25 boats entered.

Race Report – Sat 3 April
The Easter Sprints – It was a stunning day on the harbour, high wispy clouds, beautiful sunshine and very little traffic. We had the NE corridor to ourselves. The breeze arrived just in time for the start of racing and was a pleasant 8-12 knots oscillating NNE to ENE during the afternoon. There was a series of 5 races approx. 20-25 minutes, with enough variation to make this a thinking person’s day and a good workout for anyone who enjoyed the Good Friday celebrations a little too much – you know who you are 😊A good showing of 22 boats across both fleets, slightly higher number of radials, some old friends not only made an appearance, but scored a bullet in the 2nd race, well done Yves Stenning.
